From time to time, a view has been created that is provides all the information needed but it's lacking the a particular sort quality that makes the view perfect. In this article we cover the ability to set sort options within a view.
Common Sort Requests:
- Name
- Rating
- SOC Date
- Branch (referrals)
Most of our View recipes focus on Step 4: Advanced Filter Criteria and how to pull specific field settings into your report. This recipe focuses instead on Step 6: Select a Sort Order.
You can choose up to three sort criteria per view, which allows you to group like fields together. This can be something very simple, like sorting by name in alphabetical order - which is great for Account and Contact views! - and you can also choose whether to sort in Ascending or Descending order. Note:
- For alphabetic lists, Ascending = A-Z Order and Descending = Z-A Order
- For date lists, Ascending = Oldest-Newest and Descending = Newest-Oldest
Combining these options, you can decide exactly how you want your report to appear by default. Below are a few examples:

Example Screenshot - Referral View in Newest-Oldest Order by Date Entered
