Expenses in Marketscape CRM:
The Marketscape CRM Expenses module allows reps to create expenses and ensure they are following federal regulations when bringing snacks or meals to providers.
the expenses module is to ensure regulatory compliance, also known as Stark II Compliance, not aid in reimbursement such as platforms like Expensify or Concur.
There are settings for the annual limit by contact type, and admins may set the alerting threshold to let reps know when they are close to the annual limit for the clinicians they visit. Not every contact type is eligible for compliance tracking, but under the existing laws, physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants are.
Stark II thresholds change annually. These amounts are updated as needed in Marketscape CRM.
Stark II Compliance:
The Stark Law, officially called The Physician Self-Referral law, 42 U.S.C. Section 1395nn, prohibits physicians from referring to receive “designated health services” payable by Medicare or Medicaid to an entity with which the physician or a member of the physician’s family has a financial relationship. A financial relationship can include an investment stake in a healthcare agency to which the provider is referring. Penalties here may include fines, CMPs for each service, repayment of claims, and potential exclusion from participating in the Federal healthcare programs.
