Expenses can be entered into PlayMaker to track them by user and account. This feature includes built-in Stark II compliance monitoring and is available in both the web and mobile application, making it a quick and simple way to send receipts, identify spending trends, and stay on budget.
The fastest way to add an expense in Web is via the Overview tab, and this quick guide will help you walk you through the steps. (The Expenses section of our user guide will walk you through the creation, management, and approval of expenses in detail.)
Managers and Admins: A Note About I-COMPLI
The only Contact Type that is accountable to Stark II Law is a Physician, and so I-COMPLI is set so that marketers can only split expenses against Physicians by default. Expenses are split evenly among each contact in I-COMPLI. (If there are no Physicians listed/applicable as a contact for an event, the I-COMPLI step will be left blank.)
That said, PlayMaker does allow for clients to customize their expense module by opting to add other Contact Types to I-COMPLI for tracking purposes only. When this option is enabled marketers will be able to divide expenses evenly between Contact Types of their choosing. Please note, however, that the reports generated will no longer be specific to Stark II compliance monitoring, and so your reports will run as itemized budget reports instead – which is ok too! Just remember that you’re adding/restricting functionality based on the end result that you need to track.
I hope that this helps you become familiar with this feature and helps you make decisions about how you’ll want your expense module to run. As always, should you have any other questions about customization or expense management just let your Account Manager know!
